Portuguese is a Romance language spoken by about 255 million people. It is the official language of Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, and is a co-official language in East Timor, Equatorial Guinea and Macau. Portuguese alphabet or “Alfabeto” consists of 23 letters. It is derived from Latin as is the English alphabet. Letters K, W and Y are missing from the Portuguese alphabet.
